ACRIMONIOUS ANGUISH, RAMIFICATION, OPTIK NURVE, CANNED LAUGHTER, MONKEY DEATHSTICK AND 5000 B.C.
By Matt Milburn John Boste Social Club, Kendal. 20th December 2002This is just a short review of a gig which happened before Christmas in South Cumbria, so people get an idea what's going on round here. 5000BC are a three piece band, and are the most awesome local metal band. Acrimonious Anguish, who ended up headlining the show, are also an amazing metal band from Cumbria, and they played a shit hot set. There were a lot of covers going down. Monkey Deathstick did covers by 'The Offspring' and 'System of a Down', which sounded pretty good. We [Canned Laughter] dropped in some covers too, such as 'Rancid' and 'Bouncing Souls', but I have to say it wasn't our best gig! Optik Nurve also put on a good set with lots of noise and metal. Their lead singer sounded like a small girl being stabbed - which might be a good thing!? They are a typical heavy nu metal band with some really good songs. The highlight of the night for me was Ramification. They are a 4-piece ska punk band and they are shit hot on stage. They played covers by 'Reel Big Fish', 'Jesse James' and 'Pennywise' and were the best band there
